Santa Claus, Or a Christmas Get Out Clause.

December 1st 2021

Now its nearing the most wonderful time of the year we find a lot of debtors either stop paying their installments altogether without notice or they advise they will pay in January a double payment.

When January arrives they realise their Christmas hangover of debts is still in full force and a further month of payments are missed.

It’s important to maintain relationships and communication with our debtors to ensure we understand their concerns and the importance of the plan even if they are just making a reduced payment to keep their plan ticking over.

Can I get a DMP or TPP payment break before Christmas? You won’t be able to get a payment break in order to put more money towards Christmas. Creditors typically don’t accept Christmas and its related expenses as a reason for you to pause or reduce payments toward your plan. Usually, we can only grant a payment break in situations such as: An unexpected expense, such as a boiler breakdown or car repairs A sudden change of circumstances, such as illness or the death of a loved one Reduced income due to unemployment, redundancy or loss of benefits
