The meeting started with a dinner on the rooftop garden of Hotel Divani Palace Acropolis, which had a spectacular view of the Acropolis. A day of sightseeing followed, which included visits to the Panathinaiko Stadium, where the first modern Olympic games which took place in 1896; and the Acropolis.
During the formal part of the meeting, the members visited the Supreme Court where they met with one of the Vice-Presidents of the Court; received a lecture on the implications of companies accepting deferred prosecution agreements for fraudulent wrong doing, for both the company’s members and for the company in the context of cross-border prosecutions; and welcomed their first Russian member to the organisation. Plans for a newsletter to be distributed amongst the members and their clients were discussed, with the first edition planned for publication in the not too distant future.
The visit also included an evening with live Greek music, when some of the members participated in some traditional Greek dancing; and a visit to the offices of Ioannis Charaktiniotis & partners, where they were offered the opportunity to meet the various lawyers who work in this firm.
The next Board of Directors meeting is set to take place in November in Oxford, UK.
