Richard Gwynne, a highly respected figure in the field of commercial recoveries, joins Spratt Endicott Solicitors and the leadership team has big plans to further grow the department.
Richard joins Spratt Endicott from Shoosmiths LLP where he was director of Commercial Debt Recovery, having worked for the company for the past 26 years forging his well-deserved reputation as an expert in the field.
His move reunites Richard with his former colleague, Martin Hughes, non-lawyer Partner and Head of Commercial Recoveries, having previously worked together before Spratt Endicott demerged from Shoosmiths LLP back in 2002.
Martin and Richard are now looking to evolve their highly experienced team further, with the firm’s recent investment in an efficient web-based pre-legal collection system designed to support the debt recovery team in making processes more efficient for both staff and clients.
Richard said that one of the key reasons he made the move to Spratt Endicott was their values, and this is demonstrated through their excellent client service, as well as the training and ongoing development of their staff. This is also borne out by the firm’s growing client base and long-serving, experienced team.
Martin Hughes said: “It’s about being flexible enough to change and responding to the needs of our clients in the future. Many firms expand by recruiting expertise from elsewhere, and Richard will be invaluable to the continued growth and success of our team.”
Richard explained “I hugely value what Spratt Endicott are doing – if I didn’t, I wouldn’t have joined the team. For a client, it’s the people and service that are important and Spratt Endicott offers the personal service and value. I feel I can offer clients more here because I have the freedom to do that.”
Recommended in the Legal 500 UK, Richard’s experience encompasses volume debt recovery, contentious litigation, insolvency, telephone collection techniques and an extensive working knowledge of systems in support of client requirements.
During his time at Shoosmiths LLP, Richard led the debt recovery department that has retained a Tier 1 ranking within the Legal 500 UK South East region for the last 11 years. He also launched the International Recoveries Service giving clients one point of contact within the firm.
As a Member of the Institute of Credit Management, Richard also lectures on the subject of collection and the latest effects of legislation on the credit industry and has presented to the Institute at both local and regional levels.
