It is great news that there are 1.3 million more disabled people in employment than 5 years ago as announced by the Department for Work and Pensions on 17 May 2022. The Government is also to invest £1.3 billion over the next 3 years in employment support for disabled people and people with health conditions. Details of this investment are due to be published in its Health and Disability White Paper this Summer.
However, there is still a disability pay gap according to recent ONS data as this was recorded at 13.8% in 2021 from 11.7% in 2014.

Hopefully the Government’s investment will help even more disabled people in employment and also help to reduce the disability pay gap.
