Latest figures produced by the Office for National Statistics (ONS) indicate that hybrid working is “here to stay” and has risen from February 2022 when the proportion was only 13% to 24% in May 2022.
Hybrid workers tend to divide their time between the office and their employer’s premises.
Given that hybrid working is increasing and that there is still a good percentage of homeworkers (those that work exclusively at home) currently standing at around 14%, then employers should make sure they have adapted employment contracts and introduced various policies in place to cover such working scenarios. Confidentiality, health and safety implications, equipment, insurance and reporting are just some of the areas that will need to be considered if an employer has hybrid or homeworking arrangements.
