James is a Senior Associate in the Corporate & Commercial team advising on all aspects of corporate and commercial law. He acts for a diverse range of clients including national companies, SMEs, individual investors, as well as international companies and individuals based overseas. James specialises in domestic and cross border mergers and acquisitions. He also regularly deals with business asset sales, corporate finance work, shareholders agreements, joint ventures, investment agreements and commercial contracts such as distribution agreements and agency agreements.
James prioritises getting to understand the business and commercial requirements of his clients to provide pragmatic solutions to often complex legal problems.
James trained in London and then worked for an international law firm for a number of years in their offices in Brazil and London, and also worked at the regional firm Bower Bailey, before joining us in August 2021.
Outside of work James is chairman of Oxford Oranges FC. He enjoys playing football and travelling when not ferrying around his family.
