We are delighted to announce the recipients of the SE-Solicitors Specialist Schools Award, created in partnership with the City of Oxford Charity. Through the award, funding has been provided to specialist schools across Oxford to support meaningful activities, events, and essential equipment that enhance students’ learning experiences.

Founded in 1700, the City of Oxford Charity has a long history of supporting local residents through housing, grants, and educational assistance. The charity’s education grants help bridge financial gaps and reduce barriers to learning, making education more accessible and enriching for all.

The SE-Solicitors Specialist Schools Award in particular has been aimed at special schools in Oxford for children and young people who have complex special educational needs and disabilities. The grant supports schools in providing the specialist equipment, facilities and opportunities that can make a meaningful difference to pupils with complex needs.

Funding was awarded to the following specialist schools by the trustees of the City of Oxford Charity. Below, we share how each school will use its award to benefit students:
  1. Endeavour Academy: A farm visit to the school, singing and signing activity day and one go-kart for the playground
  2. Mabel Prichard School: Contribution to Astroturf and outdoor sensory equipment as they seek to enhance their outdoor provision which was in need of significant refurbishment
  3. Northern House Academy: Contribution to a whole school theatre trip to London. The academy will announce which play to parents after Christmas to keep the excitement of the surprise!
  4. Orion Academy: 2 outdoor tennis tables and basketball hoops
  5. The Iffley Academy: Contribution towards the cost of their new Outdoor Play and Learning Programme. The academy will purchase 10 EzyRollers, push along scooters, giant balance spinning tops and some outdoor storage

“We believe that investing in young people is one of the most meaningful ways to strengthen our community,” said Patrick Mulcare, Managing Director at SE-Solicitors. “The City of Oxford Charity does incredible work across the city, and we’re proud to play a part in helping students thrive.”

“We are over the moon about the positive impact this funding will have for children and young people, especially as it goes directly to the schools who need it most.” said Barberine Mallett, Grants Manager at the City of Oxford Charity.

Since opening our Oxford office last autumn, we have been proud to become a greater part of the Oxford community. Supporting the Specialist Schools Award has been a wonderful way to work alongside the City of Oxford Charity and help local specialist schools bring valuable projects and opportunities to life.

The applications highlighted the creativity, dedication and commitment of staff across Oxford’s specialist schools, and we are delighted to be able to support their plans for the benefit of children and young people across the city.
