The official Tribunal statistics were published on 8 December 2022 for Q2 of 2021/2022 along with compensation and costs figures for the Employment Tribunal and Employment Appeal Tribunal for the year 2021/2022. This shows that there were 200 discrimination cases for the year in which compensation was awarded. The maximum award was for a race discrimination case and was £228,000. The largest average award was for sexual orientation discrimination claims compared to other discrimination claims and came in at £33,000.
Claims that received compensation for unfair dismissal in 2021/22 were up by 51% compared to 2020/21 where the maximum award was £165,000 and the mean award was £14,000.
