Read the full noteWelcome to the first edition of Oxford Insights, our new quarterly newsletter for clients, prospective clients and partners – a forum where we reflect on recent events, share commentary on legal developments, and look ahead to ways in which SE-Solicitors continues to drive meaningful change for individuals and businesses in and around Oxford.
While our Oxford office is a relatively recent addition, our relationship with the city and its community is well established. Having supported clients in Oxford for many years, the decision to open a dedicated office here was a natural next step, driven by client demand and a desire to be closer to the individuals and organisations we work with. Since opening our doors last Autumn, our solicitors have enjoyed deepening those existing relationships, while continuing to build new connections with businesses and fellow professionals across the city.
A key part of our approach is collaboration — both within the professional community and with Oxford’s academic institutions. Our growing relationship with Oxford Brookes University reflects this, where we are actively involved in mentoring and supporting students as they prepare for their careers beyond academia. In a recent podcast, we explored the importance of bridging the gap between legal education and practice, and the role that partnerships between universities and professional firms can play in developing talent and supporting the wider local economy.
We have also been pleased to add value and bring local voices together through events. Earlier this year, we delivered an estate planning webinar for parents at Magdalen College School, which was very well received and a great example of the practical insight to seek to share with the community. We discuss some of the key themes of this talk further in this newsletter’s article “It’s A Family Thing”.
Likewise, last November we hosted our first Oxford roundtable in partnership with The Business Magazine, where business leaders in and around the city discussed strategies for navigating growth. It was an engaging and insightful session, and one we look forward to building on in the future.
Looking ahead, we hope many of you will be able to join us for an evening of drinks and canapés at the Ashmolean Museum in June. Invitations will be shared shortly, and it would be my pleasure to welcome you.
Lastly, this issue highlights a number of important legal developments and topics affecting businesses and individuals alike — including forthcoming changes in employment law, which are expected to have a meaningful impact in the months ahead.
Altogether, we hope you find these insights both useful and thought-provoking.
Thank you for reading Oxford Insights. We look forward to continuing to support our clients in Oxford and to playing an active role in the city’s professional community.
