Divorcing, Separating, Together

The breakdown of a relationship can be a difficult and distressing period. The traditional process can add to this challenging time and may exacerbate conflict . Couples are often put into a situation where they are ‘defending’ their side. 

Divorcing or separating together allows couples the opportunity to separate, dissolve their civil partnership, or divorce respectfully and amicably. Collaborative process 

If you and your former partner engage in the collaborative process, each person appoints a collaboratively trained Solicitor, and you and your former partner will meet together at a series of meetings with a view to reaching an outcome that works for your family. As you and your former partner will be legally represented by a collaborative Solicitor at each meeting, you will both have support and legal advice throughout the process. 

Family Mediation 

Mediation involves a neutral third party, whose role is to facilitate communication between you and your former partner and assist you both in reaching an outcome that works for both of you.  

If an outcome is reached in mediation, documents will be drawn up to allow you and your former partner to obtain independent legal advice. The outcome can then be placed into a legally binding document. 

Divorce/Separate Together 

Divorce/Separate Together enables couples to resolve their issues in a fair and reasonable manner, working together throughout the process. Not only does this mean reduced conflict and a more amicable resolution, but it also means you can save on legal fees with our joint legal team, which eliminates the need for individual fees.

This process allows the opportunity to meet with our mediator in the first instance, and then with our Consultant Barrister, Michael George, a barrister with over 30 years’ legal and court experience. We will be able to navigate you both through the process in the best possible way. 

This combination provides a cheaper, faster resolution, and avoiding the stressful process of going to court. It ensures that the separation process is as amicable as possible, hopefully leading to a fair solution for both individuals, whilst causing limited disruption to your lives, and the lives of any children that may be involved.
