Constructive clarity during emotional times.

Divorce can be painful, uncertain and distressing. Our divorce solicitors understand the difficulties you may be experiencing and can help you explore your options for your family and protect your wealth.

Focused on understanding you and your world more deeply, relationships really do matter to us, and our personalised, hands-on approach means we can realise the most positive future for you and your family. The pragmatic advice from our divorce solicitors will help you to start the next chapter of your life.

We can help you across a broad spectrum of issues to resolve relationship difficulties, including dividing assets that you’ve accumulated over time and managing joint finances, which can be the most contentious part of the process.

Our experienced divorce solicitors can provide you with as much or little legal support as required for simple or complex cases. The cost of your divorce will depend on varying factors such as agreement to separate, financial or property disputes or child arrangements.

We offer fixed fee divorce options and a fully bespoke divorce service for more complex situations. We also try to use Mediation and Collaborative Law to resolve matters amicably which can also have the benefit of helping keep your costs down. Where litigation is unavoidable, we will robustly defend you to secure the best possible outcome for your future.

If you need specific divorce advice, complete our questionnaire to help us clearly understand your situation and needs. One of our divorce solicitors will then contact you to arrange an initial fixed fee appointment, providing you with advice and recommending the next steps to take to help you achieve your objectives. If you are ready to instruct us, we can also use the fixed-fee appointment as an opportunity to start preparing any documents that may be needed to move your case forward.

FAQs

Your questions answered. Take a look at some our Divorce Solicitors’ frequently asked questions for more information.

How does the divorce process work?
First it must be established that the Courts in England and Wales have jurisdiction to deal with the case. This is determined by where the parties live (or possibly originate from).
The second requirement is that a couple must have been married for at least 12 months. The third requirement is that the marriage has irretrievably broken down.
Do I have to attend court?
It is not usually necessary for either party to attend Court in person. Side issues such as finances and disputes regarding children can require Court attendance but the divorce itself is normally dealt with online.
How much does a divorce cost?
Our initial Fixed Fee Appointment with one of our divorce solicitors costs £195 inc VAT and helps you consider your next steps informally and confidentially, with no commitment to take matters further until and unless you wish to do so. We offer a fully-managed service to guide you through the dissolution of your marriage and provide you with as much or as little legal support as you may require.
When can I apply for a divorce?
So long as the above requirements are met, you can apply for a divorce online at any time. It is important to consider the timing of the application, however, as there may be financial implications.
How long does a divorce take?
An uncontested divorce should generally be concluded within around six months, although each case varies.
Why should I seek legal advice?
Although many people feel confident starting to handle divorce proceedings themselves, the related finances can quickly become complicated or difficult, meaning it is normally prudent to seek legal advice. The training and expertise of our divorce solicitors means you can feel confident that you are receiving the best advice before you do anything.
How do I resolve financial matters?
Within any divorce, securing an Order relating to the financial aspects is vital. This can be achieved by agreement or result from contested proceedings. Until that point even pronouncement of a Final Order ending your marriage will not sever financial ties between the parties.

Our client testimonials

“May I take the time to thank Patrick and Kath for their help in this matter. I didn’t realise at the beginning of the process how much I would value Patrick’s counsel. Richard and I enjoyed meeting with him in the office when we first started the divorce application. Thank you for his work and I would be sure to both use and recommend his services should they be required again in the future. “
